Quick answer
For tablets, Chromebooks and other large screens, Google Play asks for at least 4 screenshots in 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait, between 1,080 and 7,680 px. Use 1920 × 1080 or 2560 × 1440 (landscape) or 1080 × 1920 or 1440 × 2560 (portrait), as JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no transparency.
Google Play shows a separate set of screenshots to people browsing on tablets, foldables and Chromebooks. If you skip them, large-screen visitors see a weaker listing, and Google has spent years pushing developers toward better large-screen experiences. This guide covers the large-screen spec and the other Android form factors in one place.
Tablet and Chromebook screenshot specs
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Device types | Tablets, Chromebooks and other large screens |
| Count | At least 4, up to 8 |
| Aspect ratio | 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait |
| Size range | 1,080 to 7,680 px |
| Format | JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha |
| Content | The core app experience, without extra text outside it |
Recommended export sizes
| Orientation | Size | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape | 1920 × 1080 | Minimum that satisfies 16:9 at 1,080 px |
| Landscape | 2560 × 1440 | Sharper on high-density tablets |
| Portrait | 1080 × 1920 | Same canvas as a standard phone screenshot |
| Portrait | 1440 × 2560 | Sharper portrait option |
Older guides recommend 1200 × 1920 or 1600 × 2560 for 7-inch and 10-inch tablets. Those are 10:16, which Google Play still accepts under its general 2:1 rule, but they don't match the 16:9 or 9:16 large-screen guidance. Use 16:9 or 9:16 for new uploads.
How to make good large-screen screenshots
- Capture your real tablet layout. Multi-pane views, sidebars and split screens are the whole point of a large-screen listing.
- Lead with the view that looks most different from phone, like a two-pane email or a canvas with tool palettes.
- Keep captions short. Google asks large-screen screenshots to avoid extra text outside the core experience, and its general guidance is to keep text overlays under 20%.
- If you support keyboard, mouse or stylus on Chromebooks and tablets, show it in one slide.
- Stay consistent with your phone screenshots so the listing feels like one product.
Other Android form factors
| Form factor | Requirement |

| Android TV | At least 1 TV screenshot, plus a 1280 × 720 px TV banner (JPEG or 24-bit PNG) |
| Android XR | 4 to 8 screenshots, 8:5 ratio, recommended 3840 × 2400 px (minimum 1920 × 1200), up to 8 MB each |
| Android Automotive | If provided: at least 2 portrait (800 × 1280 px) and 2 landscape (1024 × 768 px), using the generic system UI |
Phone screenshots and featured placements
To be eligible for larger promotional formats on Google Play, apps need at least 4 phone screenshots at 1,080 px or more: 1080 × 1920 or larger in portrait, or 1920 × 1080 or larger in landscape. See the Google Play screenshot sizes guide and the full store listing checklist.
Frequently asked questions
- What size should Google Play tablet screenshots be?
- Google asks for 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait images between 1,080 and 7,680 px. Common exports are 1920 × 1080 or 2560 × 1440 for landscape and 1080 × 1920 or 1440 × 2560 for portrait.
- How many tablet screenshots do I need?
- Google's guidance for tablets, Chromebooks and other large screens asks for at least 4 screenshots, and you can upload up to 8 per device type.
- Can I reuse my phone screenshots for tablets?
- You can upload them, but they should show your app's actual large-screen layout. Stretched phone UI on a tablet listing looks unpolished and undersells your tablet support.
- Do Chromebook screenshots use the same specs as tablets?
- Yes. Google groups tablets, Chromebooks and other large screens together with the same 16:9 or 9:16, 1,080 to 7,680 px guidance.
- What are the Wear OS screenshot requirements?
- At least one screenshot, 1:1 aspect ratio, minimum 384 × 384 px, showing only the app interface with no device frame, extra graphics or transparent background.
