Overview
Screenshot Otter is designed with privacy as a core principle. All rendering and image processing happens locally in your browser. You can optionally enable cloud sync to save projects for multi-device access, or keep everything stored locally on your device. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
1. Image Processing and Storage
All image rendering and processing happens locally in your browser using your device's own resources. If you enable cloud sync, project data (including screenshots you have uploaded) is stored securely in our cloud infrastructure so you can access your projects from multiple devices. If you use local-only storage, your images remain entirely on your device and are never transmitted to our servers. You can switch between cloud and local storage at any time in Settings, and you can delete all cloud data from your account at any time.
2. Data We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to provide the Service: (a) Account information, if you sign in or subscribe, we store your email address, subscription status, and storage preferences; (b) Cloud project data, if you enable cloud sync, we store your project data (templates chosen, captions, and uploaded screenshots) so you can access them across devices; (c) Usage analytics, we collect anonymized, aggregated usage data (pages visited, features used) to improve the Service; (d) Payment data, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.
3. Cookies and Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand how the Service is used. These tools collect anonymized data such as page views and session duration. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell your data to advertisers.
4. Email
If you sign up for a premium subscription, we may send you transactional emails (receipts, subscription status) and, with your consent, product update emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. We do not sell your email address to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services: Stripe (payment processing) and Supabase (cloud project storage, if enabled), each with their own privacy policies. We do not integrate advertising networks or data brokers.
6. Data Retention
Account data (email, subscription status, storage preferences) is retained for as long as your account is active. Cloud project data is retained while your account is active and cloud sync is enabled. You can delete all cloud project data at any time from Settings. You may also request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at [email protected].
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be communicated via email if you have an account with us.
